The National wins Grammy Award
Their seventh studio album "Sleep Well Beast" is the Best Alternative Music Album of 2017

The National's mesmerizing melancholy indie rockers received their first ever Grammy Award over the weekend at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. They won Best Alternative Music Album for their seventh studio album "Sleep Well Beast". The record beat out such iconic artists as Arcade Fire, Gorillaz, Father John Misty and LCD Soundsystem. They had been very close to the Grammy victory in 2014 when they were nominated in the same category, with the album "Trouble Will Find Me". "Sleep Well Beast" was also nominated for Best Recording Package this year.
"We wanted to destroy what we've created until now. We needed to explore new paths," Bryce Dessner said earlier about their seventh album. And here is the result, an innovative, more experimental, but still heart-warming, bittersweet and deep music.
Produced by The National’s own Aaron Dessner with co-production by co-members Bryce Dessner and Matt Berninger, Sleep Well Beast was mixed by Peter Katis and recorded at Long Pond, Aaron Dessner’s Hudson Valley, New York studio, with additional sessions in Berlin, Paris and Los Angeles.
The National is currently on a world tour with dates in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
